It has been a wonderful day so far the sun has been shining and we had special guests at our church.
The Devil's Dyke Morris Men. They danced a 'signal dance' for us in the church and with three accordions and a fiddle they accompanied our hymns. After the service they did several more dances outside the church in the May sunshine to a very happy group of onlookers.
The whole occasion was very joyful and it was nice to see so many people enjoying it. The monies donated on this occasion went to
Headway Cambridgeshire, who are the Devil's Dyke Morris Men's chosen charity this year.
There was refreshments afterwards and my best ever lemon cake was my donation, was really easy to make and very scrummy!
Thanks to everyone at All Saints' for making us so welcome. The lemon cake was absolutely delicious, and there seemed to be a huge quantity of refreshments. Strictly for the record only, there were actually three accordions playing, plus one fiddle, when we were accompanying the hymns.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for giving the collection to Headway. We are very pleased to be supporting them this year and I know they will be very grateful for this contribution.
Helen (one of the musicians)
Sorry I got the accordion numbers wrong. I was right at the back of the church and couldn't see your third musician on the accordion. You were all wonderful and you left us with a buzz, everyone who came were impressed by the whole occasion. Lots of comments about the wonderful music in the church.
ReplyDeleteThank you again. Best wishes Ruth
Your blog is interesting, has left a great impression.

Dear Jonas, thank you for your kind words :)

Hi Ruth: no need to worry about getting the number of accordions wrong. We aim to play together as a team, so the number of people playing shouldn't be apparent if we're working well together.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, today I heard one of our men describing your cake as "to die for", and that's high praise indeed, I can assure you.
